The departures from Activision Blizzard continue
A controversial senior executive is a thing of the past
According to a report by Bloomberg , Frances Townsend , one of the most controversial high-ranking executives of Activision Blizzard , has decided to leave in view of the acquisition of the company by Microsoft.
Going into detail, Townsend previously served as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and has been Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer at Activision Blizzard since March 2021.
One of her duties was to oversee communications within the company. Townsend was one of the first executives to try to dismiss the harassment, inequality and poor working conditions scandal at Activision Blizzard, with her comments sparking a mass walkout.
Townsend, in fact, had left spikes for the employees and especially for those who found the courage to testify. The result was another outcry that eventually led to her deleting her Twitter account entirely.
Her departure was announced through an e-mail from the company’s CEO, Bobby Kotick. However, it’s worth noting that until the acquisition is completed, Townsend will remain as a senior advisor to the board and CEO, relinquishing her remaining responsibilities.
