Intel: First sneak peek at the 6 GHz “monster” processor!
A frequency that can be touched without overclocking by the user
Over the past few months we’ve seen Intel’s 13th generation processors breaking overclocking records time and time again. As is obvious, the Raptor Lake-S do extremely well with high frequencies, to the extent that Intel itself had announced that it is preparing the world’s first processor that will run at 6GHz “out of the box”.
Yes, Intel had promised that a Core i9 is on its way that will have a boost frequency of 6GHz, in which it will be able to run without the need for an overclock from the user! Until today, however, not much official information has been revealed, such as for example his name. Now, the company is starting to prepare the ground and has just published a live demo of the processor, which remains unnamed.
Specifically, the company’s Gaming Technical Marketing Lead, Jason Xie, shows the processor running on a commercially available ASUS Z790 motherboard, with an also standard Corsair AIO water cooler that can easily be found commercially. As seen by both the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and HWiNFO, the processor in the system in question actually reaches 6GHz on two cores on its own when a 7zip benchmark is running in the background.
Of course, the frequency isn’t always fixed at 6GHz, but fluctuates depending on the system’s workload.
For the record, according to the latest rumors and leaks, the processor in question is none other than the Intel Core i9-13900KS which may be released sometime in January. The i9-13900KS will have 24 cores and 32 threads (8 high performance cores and 16 more energy efficient), with a base frequency of 3.2GHz and a boost frequency of 6GHz.
