87% of young people in America have an iPhone
A much higher percentage than in 2012
According to new data shared by the investment company, Piper Sandler , 87% of teenagers in America have an iPhone and this percentage is more than double compared to ten years ago.
These results were published after a six-month survey and among others many users, who do not own an Apple device , said that their next phone will be an iPhone.
According to all of these figures, iPhone ownership among young people has more than doubled, and this is because in 2012, for example, only 40% of teenagers in the US had an iPhone.
Piper Sandler’s official statement reads:
The high use of the iPhone among teenagers bodes well for Apple products, as well as for the constant renewal of its product cycle.
Moreover, these trends are encouraging as the company continues to introduce new iPhones, which could provide a significant refresh to its product cycle. We believe these positive trends can also be a catalyst for further service growth as the install base for Apple hardware continues to grow.
Also, the iPhone may be so popular, but it is not the only product that is so successful. And that’s because the Apple Watch is also doing very well, with 31% of young people owning it. In fact, it is by far the most popular smartwatch in the United States among young adults.
For the record, Piper Sandler has been conducting such surveys for more than a decade, and the most recent surveyed 14,500 teenagers, with an average age of 15, in 47 states.
