Rancher makes more money from YouTube than from his animals
A new era
Ian Pullen from the UK is a farmer who started uploading videos of his daily activities to YouTube in 2018. Today, his channel, Farmer P , has 38,600 subscribers and some of his videos have hundreds of thousands of views. When he started his channel, he didn’t expect to make money from it, but today he has ended up making more money from it than from his animals.
Two and a half years ago I got a message from Google saying we’ve just paid you £47. Where did these come from I wondered. The next payment was £80 and then £300. Now I make more from YouTube than my 40 animals…who knew?

Pullen uploads videos of things going wrong on his farm, interesting moments with the animals and encourages people to ” stay honest ” with their audience.
With the money he earned from YouTube, he bought a new stable and invested in camera equipment, as well as a drone for aerial footage. His dog, Biskit, even has his own merchandise available for sale. Pullen emphasizes that every pound he makes online is invested in his farm.
These are pretty uncertain times for farmers and will be in the future. If they can make money from vlogging while at the same time educating the public about their activities and the importance of food production and environmental protection, so much the better.
