Windows command prompt blacks out and now has issues!
A new mode arrives
Microsoft continues to work on updates for Windows 11 and its various components, and so has now announced version 1.16 of Windows Terminal .
According to the official announcement on its website, the Windows command line, which is one of the longest-standing components of the operating system, is getting ready to add more “color to its life”. In particular, update 1.16 brings the new themes feature , which will allow developers and power users who spend a lot of time on their computer with the console open, to customize its appearance.
For now themes can only be changed after modifying a JSON, however, soon Microsoft will also add a special UI to make the process easier for users who are less familiar.
Beyond the themes, the update also makes changes to the colors. Terminal will now use black as the background by default, regardless of the mode you have chosen for your operating system in general.
Finally, the update also brings the ability to configure the location where the new tabs are opened, with the user deciding whether he wants them to go to the end of the queue or immediately after the selected tab. Of course, there are also bug fixes.
