Netflix: It suddenly reduces its prices in 100 countries – Does it also apply to Greece?

A response to the new measures to crack down on the “cheats”?

Netflix has suddenly announced that it is slashing the prices of all its subscriptions in more than 100 countries around the world, as subscribers express displeasure over new measures to crack down on account sharing and confusion over which streaming services will keep

This comes in response to the recent price increases made to HBO Max and Disney Plus lately due to inflation and other factors.

But it may also be an attempt to calm spirits at a time when it will soon apply in more countries the new measures to stop the free sharing of accounts. This Netflix price drop affects ” more than 10 million ” subscribers, or more than 4% of the service’s 230 million subscribers to date, estimates Ampere Analysis director of research Toby Holleran.

He made the revelation saying: ” Starting today, Netflix is going to reduce monthly subscription pricing in more than 100 regions worldwide. The basic tier will see the largest percentage drop in a large number of regions. In these regions, which cover the Central and South America, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions, discounts on the base package will range from 20 percent to nearly 60 percent, with the price drop to start immediately for new and existing subscribers” .

Will it also apply to Greece?

The latest information we have on whether Greece is among the 100+ countries is not yet clear. Cord Cutters News was the first to report that the price reduction in subscriptions will also take place in all Balkan countries, referring to Bosnia, Slovenia, Croatia, Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, Slovakia and Bulgaria, but not specifically Greece .

So we have to find out from official lips if the price reduction in Netflix subscription packages also applies to our country. However, the reduction seems to be significant and reminiscent of other times as the basic package from €7.99 is reduced to €4.99 , the standard package from €9.99 to €7.99 and the Premium from €11.99 to €9.99 .

In our country, until the time of writing the article, the prices remain at €7.99 for Basic, at €10.99 for Standard and at €13.99 for Premium.
