Overclockers broke records by “launching” the RTX 4090 to 3.45 GHz!
A truly impressive effort
Over the past few days, the overclocking community has been on fire, with one record after another being broken thanks to the debut of new processors from AMD and Intel and now Nvidia ‘s RTX 4000 graphics cards . This time, then, the team ‘TecLab OC’ from Brazil managed to push an RTX 4090 to the limit .
In particular, they broke the record for the highest clocked graphics card of all time , making Nvidia’s new GPU run at 3.45 GHz! This is a frequency so high that for various reasons there is a degradation of performance(!). Therefore, the team dropped the core clock to around 3.3 GHz to run various benchmarks.
Of course, even so, the RTX 4090 managed to break five different benchmarking records , achieving the highest scores ever recorded in 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra, 3DMark Port Royal, 3DMark Time Spy Extreme Graphics, Superposition 1080p Extreme and Unigine Superposition 8.
Of course, liquid nitrogen was used for cooling. In fact, the overclockers had to do some hardware interventions to be able to install the liquid nitrogen intake system, re-soldering some components on the back of the PCB. At the same time, they completely removed the power limit controller and added voltage probes to better understand how the card behaves.
For the record, the RTX 4090 generally does admirably with overclocking, as even without any intervention, with Galax’s stock GeForce RTX 4090 SG (Serious Gaming) brush, the team managed to push the card to 3,075 GHz.
