Microsoft is preparing a colossal investment of $10 billion for the sake of ChatGPT

According to the latest information

As it seems the ChatGPT artificial intelligence that went viral on the internet in the last few weeks has not only impressed the social media users but also the high-ranking executives of Microsoft . In particular, according to the new Semafor report , the American giant is currently in discussions to invest -again- in OpenAI .

In more detail, Microsoft wants to invest another 10 billion dollars in OpenAI, which, in addition to ChatGPT, is also responsible for other impressive artificial intelligence technologies, such as the algorithm for creating images from text descriptions, DALL-E. In fact, this development comes just days after it was revealed that Microsoft plans to combine its viral ChatGPT artificial intelligence with the Bing search engine, which it believes can give it a new chance in the showdown with Google.

If this big investment goes through, Microsoft will get 75% of OpenAI’s profits until it makes back the initial investment. After securing the 10 billion, Microsoft will own 49% of OpenAI.

For the record, Microsoft had officially announced last year that it plans to integrate Dall-E 2 image creation artificial intelligence into Bing. The relationship between the two companies is not accidental of course, since in 2019 Microsoft had invested 1 billion in OpenAI, entering into a multi-year agreement which, among other things, provides that all its AI technologies will run on the Azure network.

In case you don’t know, ChatGPT is an AI application designed to mimic human conversation based on user cues and can answer a wide range of questions imitating human speaking style. The results are so realistic that, according to an exclusive  New York Times report , it has been on “red alert” at Google headquarters since the end of November, which believes that such a natural way of answering could forever change what people expect. users from a search engine that until now simply returns links to other pages.
