Samsung has banned its employees from using ChatGPT

After the employee blunder

A month ago, Samsung employees used ChatGPT to upload the company’s source code to OpenAI’s servers. Samsung’s reaction was immediate, sending an internal letter to all its employees, prohibiting the use of productive artificial intelligence on the company’s phones, tablets or computers, or on any device that has access to its internal network. It also asked employees not to disclose company information on ChatGPT or similar services on their personal devices.

Samsung emphasizes that all of these AI platforms use external servers to store data, making erasing or protecting it difficult. Thus, sensitive data can fall into the hands of unauthorized users.

In an internal survey it conducted on the use of AI tools, 65% of those who responded considered that such services are a security risk.

Interest in productive AI platforms like ChatGPT is growing both internally and externally. While this interest is focused on the utility and efficiency of these platforms, there are also growing concerns about the security risks posed by productive AIs. We ask for your attention to the instructions, as in case of non-compliance that will result in the publication of company information, we will proceed with administrative actions, even termination of employment. – Samsung representative

It is worth noting that Wall Street banks were among the first to ban the use of ChatGPT by their employees.
