MSI’s new 1300 Watt monster power supply is ready for the future
And for next-gen graphics cards

As we have informed you, several well-known manufacturers have started renewing their power supplies , in view of the new generation of graphics cards. In particular, both AMD and Nvidia are expected to significantly raise the consumption bar with their RX 7000 and RTX 4000 models respectively. So, in turn, MSI has now presented its own “monster”, the MEG Ai1300P PCIE5 PSU .
It is the “ultimate future-proof power supply unit” according to the company’s words, since in addition to the 1300 Watt it offers, it meets the specifications of ATX 3.0 , while it is the first power supply in the world that has the new PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR connector for next-generation graphics cards, without the need for an adapter.
This means that there is a special cable with 12+4 pins inside, instead of having to assemble the standard 6+2 pin connections. So this new PCIe 5.0 connection can supply a graphics card with up to 600 Watts of electricity. On the other hand, ATX 3.0 promises, among other things, improved energy efficiency in idle mode.
Since we’re talking about a power supply that will actually draw a lot of current, MSI emphasizes that it uses higher quality copper alloy terminals so that the PSU can handle these increased loads safely.
