Winamp: Your parents’ favorite MP3 software is back

And it brings back memories

Winamp has left its own history in the programs we used on computers in the late 90s. Now, it makes a dynamic comeback with its first update in four years.

The company made sure to keep the same style in appearance to appeal to the feeling, however “under the hood” there are significant upgrades. He describes the update as the culmination of years of hard work.

The history of Winamp is long and rich. It was developed at a time when MP3 downloads had just begun, either from the few digital stores, or from peer-to-peer applications. The ability to play many music file formats and the adaptability of the skin to the user’s tastes quickly made it the most loved in the category.

In 2013 the parent company AOL stopped its development, but that was not the end, as it was bought in 2014 by Radionomy who promised to bring it into the online music era. Of course, in no way is it going to replace the streaming that prevails today, but it hits the nostalgia of users, especially those who grew up listening to the music that stigmatized them through the program.
