Windows 7: No more security updates
And on Windows 8
On January 10, Microsoft will stop providing security updates and technical support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Support for WebView2, which developers use to deliver web content to their applications, is also being withdrawn. On the same day, the latest version of Microsoft Edge (109) will be released which will support these softwares, while Chrome will also stop support on February 7. Browsers will continue to work naturally, but will not receive critical security updates or new features.
It is estimated that there will still be 100 million active Windows 7 users in 2021. In fact, a survey that took place in October found that there are more devices running Windows XP, 7 and 8 than the total number of devices running Windows 11.

Microsoft had announced the end of Windows 7 as of 2020, and the only people still getting upgrades were those who had paid for three years of additional security upgrades. Microsoft recommends Windows 7 and 8.1 owners download Windows 10 or 11. If that’s not possible, it suggests replacing your device with a newer one before January 10 to avoid any security issues.
