Spotify wants to curb misinformation on its podcasts
And so he made a related acquisition
Podcasts have become a mainstay for Spotify , which has invested millions of dollars in exclusive shows such as Joe Rogan’s wildly popular show. However, there have been problems and criticism for the streaming giant, which is now looking to crack down on misinformation and harmful content that may be included in some of the talk shows it hosts.
For this reason, Spotify made a remarkable investment by acquiring Kinzen. It is a company that can detect such content, using its advanced machine learning technology, combined with human resources. Kinzen can analyze potentially harmful content and detect hate speech , not only in English, but in a wide range of languages.
Speaking about the acquisition, Spotify noted:
Kinzen will help us more effectively deliver a safe and enjoyable experience on our platform around the world.
At this point it is worth mentioning that the two companies have been working together since 2020, with their original goal then to prevent the reproduction of false information regarding the US elections. Their collaboration continued with the issue that had arisen on Rogan’s show, which has received harsh criticism for helping to spread misinformation about the pandemic. In fact, the issue had reached such proportions that even some artists, such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, had decided to remove their music from the platform as a sign of protest.
It seems, then, that Spotify wants to avoid such issues in the future, hence this new investment.
