Elon Musk cuts food on Twitter – “They gave millions and no one came”

And the decision caused reactions

The massive changes at Twitter continue, with Elon Musk taking drastic steps to transform the company’s finances. So, among other things, the new social media boss made massive layoffs, firing thousands of employees , while immediately trying to increase revenue by making the verification/blue tick perk available for $8 ( which didn’t go over very well ).

Now, the tycoon turned his attention to the buffet ! Going into details, a report by The New York Times, which reveals that Musk plans to stop free food distribution in the cafeteria at Twitter’s headquarters , so that employees will have to pay for their meals, has made the rounds of the internet.

This revelation caused a backlash, with one user of the platform reporting that after the layoffs, Musk intends to starve any employees left on Twitter. This tweet did not go unnoticed, with Musk responding that on average each meal cost Twitter more than $400 , while almost no one came to the office, since the company allowed remote work.

Specifically, he emphasized:

Especially strange, considering that hardly anyone came to the office. The estimated cost per meal over the last 12 months is over $400.

The former head of the program then publicly sparred with Musk, pointing out that the cost was much lower and that the practice allowed employees to work during their breaks and meetings.

The world’s richest man didn’t let that comment go unnoticed either, shining the spotlight on more statistics.

Both of those tweets follow below.

Twitter spends $13 million a year on catering services at its San Francisco headquarters. Records show peak occupancy was 25% and average occupancy below 10%.
More people worked to prepare breakfast and fewer people actually ate breakfast.
They didn’t even bother serving dinner because there was no one in the building.
