Cyberpunk 2077: Finally only one expansion pack will be released

And this is the recently revealed Phantom Liberty

For a long time, among other things due to statements by CD Projekt itself , but also due to the expectations created by many of the excellent post-launch support of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the gaming community expected that Cyberpunk 2077 will have two expansion packs .

Now, the Polish team is coming to make it clear once and for all that apart from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty , they are not planning to release any other expansion pack. The company’s plans were announced through a response to a comment on the title’s YouTube channel, but a more official statement followed.

Specifically, in a clarifying statement provided to the gaming medium VGC , the Polish company clarified:

We can confirm that the expansion currently in the works is the only one we plan to release for Cyberpunk 2077. We made the difficult decision to only develop it for PC, Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as the the expansion’s scope makes releasing it for previous-gen consoles technologically difficult and would negatively impact the player experience.

So officially, Phantom Liberty will be the only expansion pack for Cyberpunk 2077. In case you don’t know what this is about, we’re dealing with a ‘spy thriller’, as described by the same development team, whose events will take place in a brand new neighborhood of Night City. The story of the expansion revolves around the ‘New United States of America’, which the protagonist swears to serve.

In fact, players can also expect the return of Keanu Reeves. In particular, the beloved actor is collaborating once again with the studio and thus will participate in the new expansion, recording new dialogues for his character, Johnny Silverhand.

At the moment, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty does not have a specific release date, but we know that it will come sometime in 2023.
