Apple’s AR glasses will replace iPhones within a decade
A report by The Information reveals that Apple will release an augmented reality headset in 2022 to follow its AR glasses in 2023 . Rumors of these “Apple Glasses” were rumored to be released in 2020, but this new report lengthens the timeline. All we know about these products is how they will be designed with gaming, video and virtual encounters in mind, featuring 3D sensors and more advanced FaceID technology according to Bloomberg . In fact, Apple is designing lenses that darken when using AR, to let the user know that it does not necessarily pay attention.
But perhaps the most interesting part of the report is that Apple believes augmented reality glasses will eventually replace smartphones. It even gives a decade window to this transition and believes that by 2030, the iPhone will be obsolete now, at least in Western markets.
What do you think? Can you imagine yourself without your smartphone, relying on a pair of augmented reality glasses like Sean Penn in The First series?
