RUMOR: Nvidia is preparing a new cheaper RTX 3060 for October

As well as an RTX 3060 Ti with better memory

We’re just days away from the official launch of the RTX 4000 , Nvidia’s brand new next-generation graphics cards that will feature Ada Lovelace architecture, and the rumors and leaks are running rampant.

In particular, the reliable leaker Zed Wang, known by the online nickname  MEGAsizedGPU , now reports that Nvidia plans to soon bring to the market several new models of older architectures that will belong to the RTX 3000 series . More specifically, the company wants to empty its warehouses and sell all the chips it has already manufactured and for this reason it is considering some more attractive variants, the RTX 3060 8GB , RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X and a different RTX 3070 Ti .

If the rumors are true, this probably means that the high-end RTX 4000 models will hit the market first, with the mid-range proposals of the new generation of this generation taking quite a while. In particular, the rumors want a more economical RTX 3060 to debut in October, which will certainly attract a lot of attention. The model in question will have 8GB of memory instead of 12GB and possibly a smaller memory bus, from 192-bit to 128-bit.

At the same time, it sounds like the RTX 3060 Ti will also be renewed, with a new version that will have GDDR6X. According to the rumors, all other technical characteristics will remain as they are, but the transition to the best and most modern memory will result in a bandwidth increase from 14 Gbps to 19 Gbps.

Finally, rumors also want a new RTX 3070 Ti coming to the market. This model will not make any difference for users, except that instead of the GA104 chip, it will use the GA104 of the current flagships, with disabled cores. This move is clearly done as a way to empty the company’s stock and warehouses.
