Tesla Delivers First Semi Truck Three Years Late (VIDEO)

At an event at the Gigafactory

Five years after their first presentation, the first Tesla Semi trucks were delivered to their buyers in an event organized by the company at the Gigafactory in Nevada. The Semis were revealed in 2017 and were supposed to be produced in 2019. However, the pandemic and a global shortage of chips led to the current delivery. Pepsi representatives took delivery of the first 100 Semis produced.

The Semi has four electric motors on the rear axles, accelerating from 0-100 in 20 seconds and having a range of 800 kilometers with a load of 37 tonnes. Prices start at $150,000 and are picked up by Walmart and FedEx.

What is our mission? Our real mission is to accelerate the development of sustainable energy. That’s why we produce such a range of vehicles that doesn’t make sense from the perspective of a car manufacturer. – Elon Musk
