Do you have an RTX 2000 or RTX 3000 graphics card? Don’t wait for this new feature

Bad luck for those who wanted DLSS 3

One of the most important announcements from Nvidia , which we saw as part of the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 unveiling event , was DLSS 3 . This is the new version of the company’s impressive AI algorithm, which promises up to four times the performance in compatible games, upscaling from lower resolutions without sacrificing image clarity and now even producing entirely new frames.

Unfortunately, what many had suspected from the way the feature was presented and the phrasing Nvidia used in its live stream was finally confirmed. DLSS 3 will not be compatible with all RTX cards , as is the case with previous versions of the technology. Instead, it will only be supported by the 4000 series models, namely the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090.

Explaining the reason, through the official blog, Nvidia clarified:

DLSS 3 makes use of the new fourth-generation Tensor Cores and Optical Flow Accelerator of NVIDIA’s Ada Lovelace architecture, which is at the heart of GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards.

So RTX 2000 or RTX 3000 graphics card owners will have to settle for DLSS 2 or make the switch to Nvidia’s next generation. Of course, the second scenario requires them to put their hand deep in their pocket, since the European prices have just been revealed and they are…stingy.
