The Exorcist: The Reboot begins filming soon
Be patient, though, because it will be released next year
David Gordon Green , who is the director of the recent Halloween movies, said that he is ready to sit in the director’s chair, for the new Exorcist .
And this is because as we know, the new film, which will be a reboot-sequel will be released in 2023, will be a trilogy and filming is going to start soon. William Friedkin’s genius is coming to the fore again with a new trilogy with Blumhouse and Universal Pictures feverishly gearing up for the project.
The director’s statements were made during the exclusive premiere of Halloween Ends held last night and he said among other things that he feels honored to take on such a project.
We’re kicking off in a few weeks and we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and dive into the next big franchise. We have an amazing cast and an amazing script. We are all excited. It’s an honor to be part of something that is so valuable in film history.
According to what we know about the plot, it will continue from 1973’s “The Exorcist” and will probably ignore the events of the other films. Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night in Miami), will star in the role of a father who discovers that his daughter is possessed.
Desperate for help, he seeks out Chris MacNeil , the mother of the possessed girl in the 1973 film. And yes, the iconic Ellen Burstyn makes a big return to the franchise, reprising her role.
The Exorcist 1973 synopsis:
The 12-year-old daughter of an actress shows signs of demonic possession. The psychiatrists raise their hands and the case is taken over by two priests: one, elderly and experienced in cases of exorcism, the other, of Greek origin, with many psychiatric diplomas but also doubts about his faith.
