Lies of P: Director is honored to be compared to Bloodborne
Because as he says, he is a fanatic of the title himself
At Gamescom 2022, we saw a brand new trailer from Lies of P , which, as many players have characterized, has a strong aroma from FromSoftware ‘s Bloodborne .
Its environments, settings, and general style seem to be quite inspired by FromSoftware’s hit game, and now, the director of Lies of P himself has spoken out about those comparisons. In a statement given to Gamereactor , the title’s director Choi Ji-Won said that these comparisons are welcome and he feels very honored.
He mentioned that he is a very big fan of Bloodborne:
I feel very honored to have my art mentioned along with Bloodborne’s name. So I’m very honored!
However, Ji-Won has previously stated that the game’s resemblance to Bloodborne was not intentional. In a statement given to Kotaku in December 2021, he explained: ” While we’re extremely honored that so many players felt the Bloodborne vibe” through the trailer, it’s not intentional.
In addition, he had said the following:
However, titles like Bloodborne and other Souls-inspired titles come from teams that are die-hard fans.
The concept of the game is also of particular interest, since the team tells a darker version of the classic Italian fairy tale Pinocchio. In fact, the developers are also preparing a unique ‘lie’ system, which will change the gameplay depending on what you say and do with your character.
Why is Lies of P inspired by Pinocchio?
The title is expected to be a next-gen experience and will be released only for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In fact, it became known that it will arrive from day one on Xbox Game Pass. Its release window is 2023, but we don’t know exactly when it will be available.
