DCU: Dwayne Johnson makes no secret of his dislike for Shazam

Behind-the-scenes information reveals the tense atmosphere between Black Adam and Shazam

It seems that Black Adam and more specifically Dwayne Johnson doesn’t really like Shazam either. The star of the new DC movie currently in theaters doesn’t hide his distaste for Shazam, even behind the scenes at DC Studios (formerly DC Films).

The tense atmosphere in the DCU (formerly DCEU) reveals The Wrap’s special report as there is…drama between Black Adam and Shazam. According to sources Dwayne Johnson isn’t a big fan of new DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran, a collaborator of James Gunn, as the Black Adam star expresses ” slightly veiled disdain .”

Both Shazam! as well as Shazam! Fury of the Gods was produced by Safran before he became the new big boss of DC and…Johnson.

“Safran has to win over all the other directors… and Dwayne Johnson’s thinly veiled disdain for Shazam means he probably doesn’t like the idea that his boss is now the guy producing ‘Shazam.'” Safran is quite diplomatic, so I think he will succeed, but it won’t be easy.” says the source.

Johnson had fought a behind-the-scenes battle to separate Black Adam from Shazam! despite the fact that in 2014 he had signed on to appear in the latter’s film. Then in 2019 he managed to convince Warner Bros. to make the Shazam movie without Teth-Adam. Publicly, of course, “The Rock” never once referred to Zachary Levy’s character, despite the two sharing a close relationship based on the DC comics.

If there is indeed a conflict behind the scenes it is something that the two new heads of DC Studios are called upon to resolve.
