Netflix locked down the last video club and is now making it a series – Watch the trailer
“Blockbuster” is the new Netflix sitcom from the cast of Brooklyn 99
The cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is back with their own unique humor for Netflix’s new comedy series Blockbuster, for which the official first trailer has been released.
From the trailer you will understand that it is quite reminiscent of the style and direction of Brooklyn 99, while it also has a small dose of ” The Office “. Here Netflix indulges in a recital of dark humor as it chronicles in a humorous and fantastic way the case of the last “Blockbuster” store. This is the well-known chain of video clubs in the US, which “locked” in 2014, due to the boom of Netflix and other streaming services.
However, one privately owned Blockbuster store in Bend, Oregon, managed to survive the chain’s closure.
The story of the series begins when Timmy, played by Randall Park, learns that he is the manager of the last Blockbuster store. So he enlists his employees to prevent the…ship from sinking completely. Next to Park is Melissa Fumero, who you’ll know as Brooklyn 99’s Amy.
The characters that surround the cast are the mother figure of Connie ( Olga Merediz ), the ambitious director Carlos ( Tyler Alvarez ), the girl next door Hannah ( Madeleine Arthur ), the teenager Kayla ( Kamaia Fairburn ) and the store owner Percy ( JB Smoove ).
