Xbox Series X|S – The new big software update is out

Changing the game library etc.

The new major software update for the consoles of the Xbox ecosystem has just become available. In particular, Xbox Series X , Xbox Series S and Xbox One owners can download it from today and use its various new features.

Going into details, the biggest change of the update is related to the games and apps library. The so-called ‘My Games & Apps’ has changed radically and now it is easier and faster to find all your games. Its Full Library screen has been enhanced with tabs, which divide content into purchased games, Xbox Game Pass, EA Play, and Xbox Live Gold games. At the same time, the All Games tab now shows all the games someone has purchased, along with all the games they have access to from all their subscriptions.

Continuing, Microsoft has also enriched the installation options available to players. Now, through the settings, a different default storage medium can be set for next-gen games, a different one for backwards compatible ones and a different one for applications. So one can automatically send the new games to the SSD of their Xbox Series X for example and their older games from Xbox One and Xbox 360 go to an external hard drive.

Another welcome change is algorithmic background noise isolation. As we informed you, this feature was initially made available last month only for Xbox Series X|S, but with this update it was also added to Xbox One and Windows 10/11.

Additionally, the new ecosystem software update also adds a new feature to the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 controllers. Now, through the Xbox Accessories app, owners will be able to change the color of the central Xbox button, which until now only lit up white. In particular, there will be options for over 16 million colors, since this is normal RGB lighting.

Finally, new features have been added to the Xbox app for smartphones, which you can now use to start parties, while the Windows Xbox Game Bar has also gained new features.
