Ameca’s Creepy Robots Can Now Make More Expressions (VIDEO)

Check out the new Engineered Arts video

Remember the Ameca humanoid robots that went viral in December of last year thanks to their extremely realistic movements and facial expressions? Now, the British company that manufactures them has announced that development is progressing smoothly, so the Ameca can mimic even more human expressions!

Going into detail, since the robots’ introduction at this year’s CES to date, they have acquired 12 additional mechanical parts behind their faces, which allow them to not only mimic more human expressions, but also switch between them even faster. Let us remind you that the Ameca already had the ability to smile, look irritated, as if they were thinking or as if they had seen something impressive.

Now the impressive robots are able to combine gestures with various facial expressions to imitate, for example, human yawning, shrugging, pointing, greeting, gaping, winking, as and many more human habits. Ameca’s hardware also includes sensors that can monitor movement throughout the room they are in, with cameras in both of their eyes and a high-resolution camera mounted on their chest.

Finally, they also feature hand detection technology, a voice recognition algorithm and many other technologies, since the goal of Engineered Arts is to reach new milestones in terms of human-machine interaction.

Of course, it is one of those cases where many words are poverty, since the following video “speaks” for itself.
