Time for a change of wallpaper – JWST photographed the “Pillars of Creation”

Dazzling effect

One of the most popular images of the universe is the photo of the “Pillars of Creation,” a hotbed of new stars in the Eagle Nebula, 6,500 light-years away, photographed by Hubble in 2014. Now, the promising James Webb Space Telescope has managed capture exactly the same image, only this time its modern systems offer a significantly better resolution.

Young stars that appear as intense red light sources are only a few hundred thousand years old. Galaxies are not visible because of the gas and dust of the nebula.

By studying the image, astronomers hope to revise star formation models thanks to the new, more accurate data.
