Twitter: We’ve learned when paid blue tick is coming back
Elon Musk promises that things will work out
One of the huge changes that Elon Musk ‘s new era brought to Twitter was the revamped Twitter Blue. It is a subscription service that for $8 per month offered various benefits to users, including verification/blue tick .
However, things didn’t go as smoothly as the tycoon would have liked, since the … drama immediately began. Dozens of accounts bought Twitter Blue just to pretend to be a company or celebrity. Among others, Nintendo, Valve, LeBron James, politicians, even pharmaceutical companies have fallen victim, and thus Twitter has temporarily frozen new blue tick purchases.
Now, the social media giant has confirmed that Twitter Blue will return on November 29 . Specifically, through his personal account, he made it known that the redistribution was moved to the end of the month, so that the company could ensure that this time everything would go smoothly.
Apparently, Twitter will take drastic measures to prevent incidents of malicious impersonation from happening again. In particular, Musk pointed out in another post that with the new launch of Twitter Blue, if someone tries to change their name, they will automatically lose the blue tick. The Twitter team will then have to manually confirm that the account does not violate the terms of use under its new name.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether the new system will work in practice. Social media certainly doesn’t have room for many such mistakes, since the chaos caused by the previous attempt led many companies to stop advertising on Twitter, including General Motors, General Mills, Audi, Volkswagen and space giant Omnicom Media Group .
