ChatGPT: He took the exam at AUTH and passed with flying colors!
Ethical questions arise that need to be answered
Scientists from the IT department of AUTH (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) put ChatGPT to the test in the course of digital processing, which has recently caused a disturbance in the university community.
As the ERT report states, the PhD candidate in Aristotle’s Department of Informatics, Ioanna Valsamara, shows on the computer how this viral artificial intelligence passed exams at the university. The Greek scientists submitted it to the same test as the students and the result was amazing, because not only did it manage to pass the course, but it did it with excellence, i.e. 8 out of 10 .
ChatGPT can create everything from student reports and student papers to journalistic and scientific articles, politicians’ speeches, poems and songs in seconds .
One of the requests is whether the technology is used ethically, as in cases of distance exams there is a risk of awarding a degree to non-existent students.
ChatGPT is a creation of OpenAI and has been widely released since November, sparking a “war” among BigTechs to increasingly integrate AI into everyday tools.
Microsoft , after investing $10 billion in OpenAI, announced the integration of ChatGPT into the Bing search engine . This prompted Google ‘s response a day later, where it unveiled its own response to ChatGPT , with an AI chatbot named ” Bard “, which is expected to be available to the public in the coming weeks.
