iOS 16: Battery problems after installation – What to do?
Every year the same
iPhone users are in the same project every year, where after installing the new software they are faced with battery problems. For the past few days, many who have rushed to install iOS 16 have been reporting battery issues that fall into three categories:
– Rapid battery drop when installing iOS 16
– After installing iOS 16 the battery drains very quickly
– After installation notice a noticeable drop in battery health (Battery Health)
Don’t worry about the first case. It is normal for the battery to lose a large percentage during the software installation as it is a process that is extremely demanding on iPhones and it is a good idea to keep the phone on charge while installing iOS 16.
Now, regarding battery draining fast after installing iOS 16, don’t panic. In these big updates, it takes several days to complete some processes on the phone, one of which is the recalibration of the battery, which can give you the temporary impression that it is draining quickly. Additionally, the new Photos app, which uses artificial intelligence and image recognition algorithms, can take days to scan your photos and videos in the background, draining your battery.
Update all your apps and check regularly for updates as developers will release their new versions to support the new software. It goes without saying that you also need to restart the iPhone, as you must do after every upgrade installation.
In any case, iOS 16.0.1 will be coming soon to fix any bugs. Apple usually gives this incremental upgrade about a week after the new software becomes available.
Finally, regarding “Battery Health” (Settings>Battery>Battery Health) which shows you the health of the battery, don’t worry. If you saw a drop from 99% to 94% for example after a year of use, the number is probably dummy and has to do with battery recalibration. In any case, the iPhone battery works at acceptable levels for at least three years, after which time you should consider replacing it.
Those of you who haven’t upgraded yet, it would be a good idea to wait for iOS 16.0.1 so that most of the bugs are resolved. If you already upgraded, please be patient. Even if a small percentage of users experience battery problems, among the one billion iPhone users their number is large enough for the issue to become widespread. Until iOS 16.0.1 arrives, it would be good to have a charger or power bank easily accessible.
