YouTube “steals” yet another feature of TikTok

Everyone wants to be TikTok

Google and Meta have repeatedly copied several features of TikTok in an attempt to understand the huge success of the Chinese social media. Now, YouTube has announced that it is adding voiceover narration to Shorts on iOS, allowing users to add their own audio commentary over existing videos.

This feature has of course been around on TikTok for quite some time. But this is not the first time that YouTube has borrowed a feature from TikTok, having previously added the ability to reply to comments with the user’s videos.

Copying features is common in the tech industry and usually occurs when large companies feel threatened by smaller and usually more innovative companies.
