Emmy 2022: Better Call Sall did not win a single award after 46 nominations
Fans of the series reacted strongly on Twitter to the snub
Since its launch in 2015, Better Call Saul has been almost non-stop on the glamorous night of the Emmy Awards . However, the Television Academy seems to be glaringly ignoring the now critically and audience-adored Breaking Bad spinoff.
Somehow after the Emmy Awards 2022 , the series with Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn counts 46 nominations and 0 wins , being one of the strangest negative records in the history of the institution.
Both Odenkirk for his performance as Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill and Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler were thought to be the favorites for their respective categories. Shortly after the award, Odenkirk posted a selfie with his co-star and a simple caption, showing that he’s still “S’all good, man”:
Over the past 8 years I have had the honor of working with the best both on and off stage. I got much, much more than I deserved. Rhea, thank you for keeping my head from falling to the floor.
The fans reacted strongly
The indignation of the fans of Better Call Saul and the Breaking Bad universe was caused by the snubbing of the Emmy Awards committee – for one more year. Some tweets read, ” Bob Odenkirk is back from the dead and you’re snubbing him at the Emmys?” and another that ” Bob Odenkirk didn’t get an Emmy for being so focused on his role that he had a heart attack, it’s a set up .”
Of course, Michael McKean who played Odenkirk’s on-screen brother Chuck McGill didn’t hold back either and wrote his own comment:
Thus, Part 2 of Better Call Saul with its admittedly masterful series finale may be able to have another chance at the 2023 Emmy Awards.
