Xiaomi: Prepares mobile-dream for photos of another level (VIDEO)

First taste of the concept mobile Xiaomi 12S Ultra in collaboration with Leica

Xiaomi wants to further blur the boundaries between smartphone and professional camera with a new concept mobile phone that impresses, at least at first sight.

The Chinese giant has unveiled the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept in collaboration with world-renowned Leica, which is a scaled-down version of the 12S Ultra that was recently launched only in China. In general, the design looks the same as the original, except that it has a special ring in place of the camera, which is a module that supports a lens adapter and mount for Leica’s M-series lenses .

Inside the camera we find a monstrous 1-inch sensor , the 50MP Sony IMX989 , which already equips the Sony Xperia PRO-I and Sharp Aquos R6. When the lens adapter is removed, the sensor is covered by a large protective sapphire glass, which screws on top. In the detailed first presentation of Xiaomi, it is described

Surrounding the 1-inch sensor is the regular Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept camera which is another powerful Sony IMX989. As you understand, this is a beast in terms of mobile photography in general.

From the little known information about it is that only 10 pieces were manufactured and some of them ended up as samples in the hands of some influencers abroad for a quick hands-on. In fact, the cost of each device reached 300,000 yuan or €42,270.

Of course, this is a mobile concept so it’s not certain if it will end up in stores, but it shows Xiaomi’s willingness to take advantage of Leica’s expertise.
