Twitch banned PewDiePie
For an unspecified reason and time
Popular YouTube star PewDiePie has been banned from Twitch, after mysteriously reactivating his channel some time ago, just for showing content from the series Trailer Park Boys. In particular, after Felix Kjellberg’s exclusive deal to stream only on YouTube in 2020, fans were surprised by his unexpected return to Twitch earlier this year.
In particular, on March 21st he started a strange live on PewDiePie’s Twitch channel, which looped old videos of him along with episodes of the Canadian sitcom Trailer Park Boys. Of course, this special return of PewDiePie to Twitch – which many speculate was some kind of marketing action – did not last long.
A few hours ago his channel got banned, which means if you try to find it on the purple platform, it will just show you a generic “temporarily unavailable” message. At the moment we have absolutely no official statement from either PewDiePie or Twitch. Of course, the longer the reason remains unknown, the more speculation about the possible cause rages.
Possibly, since PewDiePie’s live was automatically playing his old videos, it’s possible that some clip with copyrighted content is to blame. It is worth noting that the duration of the ban is also unknown, which means that it could last from a few days to a few weeks.
More generally, it’s unclear whether PewDiePie will ever return to Twitch in person, nor why he even bothered to start streaming on the platform again in this way.
