YouTube Shorts: You can now use popular music tracks

For more than 15 seconds

In an effort to attract more TikTok creators, YouTube announced that Shorts will allow the use of copyrighted music for up to one minute , a significant increase from the current 15-second limit. He even notes that content creators will be able to use licensed music for 30-60 seconds for ” most tracks “.

Some will stick to the 15-second limit, with YouTube’s agreements with artists determining which category they fall into. The new feature is rolling out globally starting today and will continue “ over the coming weeks ” on iOS and Android.

At the same time, YouTube Shorts will allow the purchase of items from within the platform. After successful trials with some influencers in the US, creators will now be able to sell merchandise through Shorts, with YouTube of course receiving its share of the sales.
