Oppenheimer will be Nolan’s first R-Rated film in 20 years
For so long his filmography had not marked such an age classification
A historic moment in Christopher Nolan ‘s filmography will be Oppenheimer as it is officially R-rated – as the equivalent in our own age classification, would be “not suitable for minors”. This is a rare classification as the MPA in the US has given this particular “sticker” to Nolan’s new and highly anticipated film, something that has happened since his first two films.
Both ” Memento ” (2000) and ” Insomnia ” (2002) were the first two films of his career to also be R-rated, with the rest of his films—and arguably his most successful—being PG-13 . At the moment, the reasons for the R-rating of the film remain unknown, since Universal Pictures, which took over the distribution, has not commented on the fact.
Thus, it breaks a streak of Nolan in terms of the age rating of his films that lasted more than 20 years. At the same time, Oppenheimer is expected to be Nolan’s longest film, close to 3 hours .
A bunch of huge but well-known names play in the cast of the film starting with: Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Gary Oldman, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid , Gustaf Skarsgård, Matthew Modine . The cast is completed by other famous names such as: Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian, Olli Haaskivi, Jason Clarke, James D’Arcy, Michael Angarano, Guy Burnet, Danny Deferrari, Matthias Schweighöfer, Harrison Gilbertson, Emma Dumont and Devon Bostick.
Oppenheimer hits theaters worldwide on July 21st, while in Greece it will be late compared to the rest of the world. The film will premiere on August 24 in Greek theaters.
