Avata is DJI’s new drone (PICTURES+VIDEO)

FPV with 18 minutes of flight time

DJI has unveiled its new drone . Avata is an FPV drone for “ the ultimate immersive experience ” and combines with DJI Goggles 2 and the DJI Motion controller to offer “ an almost out-of-body FPV flight experience ”.

The Avata has a 2,420mAh battery that offers 18 minutes of flight time and weighs 410 grams. There are built-in propeller guards for increased safety in a confined environment. The ultrawide camera offers a 155-degree field of view and has a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor with f/2.8. It can record 4K video at 60fps or 2.7K at 50/60/100/120fps. It also has 20GB of built-in storage.

It can move very fast and stop in ” one hundredth of a second “, while if it happens to land upside down, it has a ” turtle mode ” which will flip it over to be ready to take off again.

It has three modes. A normal one with which the user operates it like all other DJI drones, using GPS and optical stabilization systems on the bottom of the drone. Manual mode is only available with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2, giving the user total control for FPV flights. Finally, Sport mode is a combination of the previous two, offering dynamic movement but with the safety features offered by Normal mode.

DJI Avata is already available in Greece for €589, while the complete set with DJI Goggles 2 and DJI Motion Controller costs €1,459. A kit with two batteries and a charging hub is also offered for €259.
