Twitter: The paid blue tick has arrived and the first few hours were…chaos! (PICTURES)

From Mario’s gesture…to Lebron James’ transfer

A few hours ago, after the mid-term elections in the US, Twitter started making available the renewed subscription service Twitter Blue. Somehow, any user, paying $8 can get verification/blue tick.

The change is just one of many that have taken place at the social media site since Elon Musk, who recently completed a $44 billion acquisition, took over. Speaking initially on the subject , Musk had pointed out that he wants to leave in the past the system that divided the world into two categories, with “plebeians and patricians”. In fact, in the announcement he also used the characteristic phrase “Power to the people”, i.e. “Power to the people” in Greek.

At the same time, Musk’s goal is in this way to eliminate bots and fake accounts, but initially the results seem not to have been the desired ones. Immediately after the debut of the new Twitter Blue, there was immediate chaos, as many tried to pretend to be well-known personalities or companies, with their posts going viral, before the moderators of the platform could act.

Somehow, a photo of supposed Nintendo of America with Mario making an obscene gesture went viral. The round of social media also made a tweet from an alleged LeBron James requesting a transfer, while there was also the return of Donald Trump, the announcement of a new game from Valve and the certified account of… Jesus Christ.

You can get a taste of the highlights of the first few hours of Twitter’s new verification system below:

After all this, Twitter made statements, stressing that it is taking measures against “impersonation and deception.”
