But in the end the agreement is not kept and the boxer plans to leave the city. But he is forced to return to his apartment one last time to take his father’s watch with him, knowing that Wallace’s executioners will probably be waiting for him there.

According to Wikipedia:
The screenplay for Pulp Fiction was written between 1992 and 1993, and adopted some scenes originally written by Avery for the film True Romance (1993). His screenplay, like other Tarantino works, is presented out of chronological order. Also, the film is self-referential at its opening, where a card of two interpretations of “pulp” is given.
A fair amount of time is spent on monologues and simple conversations with intense dialogue, revealing each character’s perspectives on various issues, while the film features a combination of irony and intense violence.

Her script was rejected by Columbia TriStar because it was considered “too crazy”. However, Miramax co-chairman Harvey Weinstein was immediately taken by it, and the film became the first to be financed entirely by Miramax.
In 2013 the film was designated by the Library of Congress as “culturally, aesthetically, and historically significant” and selected for inclusion in the United States National Film Registry.
