New cheaper space expansion cards announced for Xbox Series X|S

The information we had conveyed to you has just been officially confirmed. Following Seagate’s recent price cut for Xbox Series X|S expansion cards , the first alternative proposals from Western Digital have now been revealed .

Specifically, the company announced the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox, which will come in two different capacities, 500GB and 1TB . Of course, the most important factor is price, and Western Digital seems to want to be very competitive. So the 500GB model will cost $79.99 in the US, while the 1TB model will ask for $149.99.

As you can see from the images accompanying the article, the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox is designed to plug into the back of the Xbox Series X, aiming to immediately provide additional storage for current-generation games, as well as for Backwards Compatible titles. It is of course also compatible with the Xbox Series S and has the same form factor as the Seagate card.

Certainly the price still stings compared to the plentiful SSDs one can get to upgrade their PS5, with Sony’s more open approach ultimately proving beneficial for consumers. However, the arrival of Western Digital’s competing offering may be just the beginning, and we may see even more alternatives on store shelves.
