Half-Life and Metal Gear Rising become one of the weirdest gaming videos to date

Gordon Freeman borrows Raiden’s moves

As we told you earlier this year , almost a full decade after its release, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has managed to make a comeback of late, thanks to internet memes and word of mouth that have boosted its Steam numbers by 1000% .

In case you don’t know, it’s an action hack ‘n’ slash spin-off game of the Metal Gear series, developed by PlatinumGames and released back in 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, arriving a year later on the electronic computers, while in 2017 it became compatible with the new Xbox consoles through Microsoft’s backwards compatibility program.

Now, creating a cross-over we never expected to see, animator Komegatze of Half-Life: Alyx’s ambitious Levitation mod has brought the style of PlatinumGames’ signature title into the world of Half-Life . Somehow, the murderous Dr. Gordon Freeman climbs up and hacks a Strider to shreds, using his trusty crowbar. Of course, the scene pays homage to the signature final boss battle players fight in the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance tutorial, where cyborg ninja Raiden dismembers a crit-sized mecha.

It’s one of those cases where words are too much, so we leave you to enjoy the oddly epic video, which of course sets the Sounds of Nature from the Rising OST to music, via the player below.
