Apple: She just confirmed something and she’s not happy about it
Guess what it is…
Apple has just confirmed for the first time in fact that USB-C will come to iPhones , since it is now being forced by the European Union , as we informed you at the beginning of October.
This news comes through an interview given by Greg Joswiak (head of Apple’s marketing) to The Wall Street Journal and, among other things, he stated the following: ” Obviously we will have to comply, we have no other choice .”
The WSJ reporter brought USB-C to the table and also asked Joswiak when users will be able to see USB-C on an iPhone. Joswiak responded by saying that;
It is the Europeans who dictate the timetable for European customers. Currently, the law says that all mobile phones and tablets must use USB-C by the fall of 2024 .
It should be noted here that Joswiak did not answer whether Apple will include a USB-C adapter for phones sold outside the EU.
Joswiak also made it abundantly clear that Apple is not happy about being legally forced to make this transition .
According to the new EU regulation, by the end of 2024, USB Type-C should become the common charging port for all mobile phones and tablets in the countries of the Union, including of course Greece. Apple will need to abandon the lightning port it has used on iPhones and other devices for years, making the transition to the common port.
The new European Union regulations apply to all small and medium-sized electrical devices, so USB Type-C for charging should be adopted by many more products. The change will also concern laptops, but the manufacturers of which will have more time at their disposal to comply, more specifically until the spring of 2026.
