RUMOR: Apple plans to add ads to more iPhone apps

Having already made the beginning

As we recently informed you , Apple plans to soon add two additional ad slots to the iPhone App Store . In the end, it seems that this will only be the beginning , since the American giant will open the “Aeolus hatch” for good.

Going into detail, a new report from Bloomberg ‘s trusted reporter Mark Gurman , who has brought behind-the-scenes information about Apple’s plans to the public eye countless times in the past that turned out to be correct, talks about ads and various other pre- installed iPhone applications.

Specifically, Apple has begun internal testing of its Maps app , which may soon begin to include ads. These will involve restaurants, shops and other businesses that can pay to appear at the top of search results. Immediately after, the Books and Podcasts applications take their turn .

Accordingly, interested parties will be able to pay to have their products, i.e. books and podcasts respectively, displayed more prominently in applications or higher in search results. For now Maps and Books and Podcasts have no ads of any kind.

Finally, Gurman’s report points out that Apple is also considering ads on Apple TV+ . The company is thinking of adding a tier with a cheaper monthly subscription, which, as will be the case with Netflix and Disney+, will interrupt the viewing of series or movies for advertisements.

For the record, the first time we saw ads in an Apple app was in 2016 with the App Store, while currently there are ads in the company’s News and Stocks apps.
