Game of Thrones: A new prequel series is coming after House of the Dragon
HBO is developing a new project due to the success of “House of the Dragon”
A new prequel series of Game of Thrones seems to be preparing to come to our screens after the huge success of ” House of the Dragon “, which was the first prequel attempt in the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire .
According to Variety’s exclusive report, HBO is strongly discussing the creation of the Aegon I Targaryen series . Currently this prequel series to House of the Dragon is in very early stages as a writer has not even been hired, but the search for one is already underway with HBO looking to move it towards production.
The most interesting thing mentioned in the report is that there is also talk of a movie that will be connected to the prequel of Aegon I Targaryen, such as a Warner Bros. co-production. and HBO with a Game of Thrones movie that would lead into the series’ storyline, though those plans remain fluid for now.
The Aegon Targaryen prequel series is said to tell the story of how Aegon and his sister-consorts, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros, with the exception of Dorne. In doing so, Aegon I became the first king of Westeros, the first to sit on the Iron Throne, and the founder of the Targaryen dynasty. These events took place approximately 300 years before the events of ” Game of Thrones “.

It was recently announced that Season 2 of House of the Dragon will have fewer episodes than Season 1. Season 2 has already been greenlit by HBO, however Miguel Sapochnik has announced his departure as director and showrunner.
When is House of the Dragon season 2 due?
Deadline reports that Season 2 of House of the Dragon will begin filming in April 2023. Therefore, it is unlikely to be released until late 2023 and is now confirmed to be released on HBO in the summer of 2024 . This is a date that HBO program director Casey Bloys had confirmed in an earlier interview.
