James Cameron: Backs Marvel’s Thanos plan to depopulate
He feels like he shares the big bad of Marvel and the MCU
A special connection says how James Cameron feels about Thanos, the big villain of Marvel and the MCU.
In a new interview with Time, the director of the huge blockbuster hit Avatar: The Way of Water revealed that he feels a special connection with Thanos when it comes to depopulation.
In the middle of the interview, where James Cameron was talking about Avatar 2’s VFX, he mentioned that Thanos has “a very viable solution” to his problem, something he shares having a strong activist presence himself. This was typically his statement:
I can relate to Thanos…I think he had a very viable solution. The problem is that no one will raise their hand and voluntarily put themselves in the other half that has to go.” -James Cameron.
For those who don’t know, Thanos’ plan in the MCU’s Infinity Saga was to halve the population of the entire universe using the Infinity Stones, which he accomplished in the finale of Avengers: Infinity War.
That Cameron agrees with a Marvel character’s point of view comes as a surprise, as he has been an outspoken critic of the superhero genre, despite being under the auspices of Disney.
We should also mention that we recently learned how much money Cameron made due to the commercial success of Avatar 2. A few 24 hours ago Avatar: The Way of Water managed to surpass Titanic for good at the box office and make history.
