Which Avatar 2? James Cameron is ready for Avatar 6 and 7

He has already laid out a larger plan for the sequels of the world of Pandora

Avatar 2 may still be a few weeks away from its worldwide release, but director and creator James Cameron says he’s all set for Avatar 6 and 7 right now .

Yes, you heard right, in addition to the already announced next three Avatars sequels he has prepared the blueprint for two more movies in the Pandora universe.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron joked that it will be years before it’s time for Avatar 6 – now that he’s 68 years old:

“I’ll be 89 by then. Obviously I won’t be able to make Avatar movies for the rest of the century, as they require an awful lot of energy.”

However, his backup plan knows this and reveals that he will have to…teach the art to a successor:

“I’m going to have to train someone to do it, because I don’t care how smart you are as a director, but you don’t know how to do something like that.”

Suffice it to say that Avatar 3 was shot back-to-back with Avatar: The Way of Water , with several scenes from it ending up in the 3rd film. The script of Avatar 4 and 5 is ready and will be completed when the world decides, as James Cameron has stated, as the sequels of Avatar will depend on the commercial performance of the upcoming “The Way of Water”.

We’ll probably get Avatar 3 out as well regardless of the outcome because it’s been shot in its entirety. We would have to go completely broke for it not to be worth the extra investment. We should leave a hole in the ground that will smoke. Now, hopefully we can say it all, because five is better than four, four is better than three and three is better than two,” Cameron said.

As Cameron has openly stated, for Avatar 2 to be considered a success it would have to reach the Top 5 of the most commercially successful films in history , given the huge cost of production and Disney ‘s expectations of it.

A few words about  Avatar 2

The production cost of Avatar 2 is staggering as it reaches $400 million dollars – before promotion and marketing costs – making it the most expensive film of all time.

In fact, it secured the much-coveted screening in China, the world’s largest cinema market, which gives it considerable hope that it will smash the box office like its predecessor.

The synopsis of Avatar: The Way of Water is as follows:

Avatar:  The  Way  of  Water takes place more than 10 years after the events of the  first film and begins to tell the story of the  Sully family ( Jake,  Neytiri and their children), the suffering that follows them, the extremes they will reach for to stay safe, the battles they will fight to stay alive and the tragedies they will endure.

The sequel stars:  Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet .

Avatar  The  Way  of  Water  will premiere in Greek theaters on December 15, 2022
