Elon Musk is trying again to cancel the Twitter acquisition in a new way

He sent a new letter on social media

We are about a month away from the court that will decide the fate of Twitter and whether or not it will be owned by Elon Musk . In particular, the trial will begin on October 17 and it seems that the richest man in the world does not want us to reach this point.

Specifically, Musk’s legal team sent a third letter on Twitter , thereby attempting to stop the $44 billion acquisition. Going into detail, the letter cites the huge compensation the social media company gave to former security chief and whistleblower Peiter Zatko as a breach of the buyout agreement and a reason to end the deal. The letter was sent on September 9 and came to light through a filing Twitter made with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

In case you don’t know, last week we informed you about the incident of Zatko, the whistleblower who came to shake up the deal. In fact, it had become known that Twitter had agreed to pay him approximately 7 million dollars before he left the company. Musk’s lawyers point out that this is yet another reason why his deal should not go forward, since it normally prohibits Twitter from providing any compensation beyond the usual amounts. Of course, in this case the amount is not extreme for a former high-ranking executive of such a large company, but Musk’s legal team seems to disagree.

For the record, Elon Musk tried to cancel the acquisition in July, saying at the time that Twitter misled him about the number of bots on the platform and that the company wasn’t giving him access to the information he needed to make his own determinations.

Although the case seems to be getting more and more complicated, the landscape will become clearer next month when the matter finally reaches the court.
