PS5: Removes a feature that hardly anyone used
He will say goodbye in the fall
When it debuted in 2020, the PS5 came with a brand new dashboard, which incorporated several new functions and features. One of them was the Accolades system. This feature allowed PS5 owners to reward players they encountered in online games who left a good impression on them.
For example, someone could receive a praise if they were helpful, welcoming, or a good, respectful competitor. These accolades would then appear as badges on his profile. The goal was to get everyone in the community to behave better, but ultimately the feature didn’t get the response Sony was hoping for.
For this reason, it has now been announced that in the fall of 2022, the feature in question will be disabled and removed entirely from user profiles and the PS5 menu.
In more detail, the official Greek PlayStation support page states:
Praise on PS5 Consoles
In the fall of 2022, Praise will no longer be supported on PlayStation 5. This feature has not had the level of use we expected, so we will be turning our attention elsewhere. We encourage the community to continue to share positive messages.
Of course, at this point it is worth mentioning that although one feature is leaving, many others are on the way. Specifically, a few twenty-four hours ago Sony had revealed what the new major PS5 upgrade will include later this year, including support for 1440p screens, folders and more.
