Bad word for social network Parler

His future is beginning to look uncertain

Uncertain appears to be the future of social networking site Parler , which according to a new report from The Verge has laid off the majority of its employees and several senior executives in recent weeks.

More specifically, according to the medium’s information, Parlement Technologies, the parent company of the social media Parler, began mass layoffs in November, which continued until the end of December. In total, around 75% of employees lost their jobs, with the company now down to just 20 employees. In terms of senior management, technology, marketing and operations managers lost their positions.

For the record, the layoffs began shortly after rapper Kanye West (Ye) canceled a deal to buy the social media site, which was first announced in October. Specifically, speaking about it, the company had stated in December:

Parlement Technologies confirms that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intention to sell Parler. This decision was made in the interest of both sides in mid-November.

According to The Verge, the social media, which is touted as an alternative focused on “freedom of speech,” had just 50,000 daily users as of October 2022 . So whether it will manage to survive with so few users remains to be seen, but certainly the latest developments are not very encouraging.
