Wikipedia: 20th anniversary of the Greek edition of the encyclopedia!

And officially, the Greek version of Wikipedia is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having started its operation in December 2002. So, on the occasion of the big anniversary and wanting to celebrate the occasion, the well-known website has changed its logo, to a new gold version for 20 years.
For the record, Wikipedia first launched on January 15, 2001, as a supplement to the expert-written Nupedia. A year later, the Greek edition also made its debut, which now enjoys over 40,000,000 page views per month, far exceeding 200,000 entries.

Wikipedia in Greek, the free encyclopedia, is celebrating 20 years of history in December 2022. Founded in 2002, today the Greek Wikipedia, the encyclopedia written collaboratively exclusively by volunteers, offers everyone information found in over 215,000 entries created with >9,800,000 edits, with 41,000,000 page views per month. Many of the >378,000 registered volunteers as well as many unregistered users contributed to the development of Wikipedia.
Wikipedia content is freely available to everyone and anyone can use it, change it and even exploit it commercially, as long as they state that the copyright belongs to Wikipedia and that the same terms apply to their own content , i.e. as defined by the Creative Commons Attribution – Share Alike license. Wikipedia is owned by the Wikimedia Foundation and is part of the multilingual Wikipedia project, which in English alone currently has over 6.5 million entries.
In the 20 years of its existence, in addition to the 215,000 entries of Wikipedia, other Wikimedia ventures have been developed in Greek: the Wiktionary with 810,000 entries, the Wikithecia with 15,300 primary texts (from Homer and Aristotle, poems from the Greek Anthology , the Thurio of Rigas Velestinlis, Byzantine hymns and younger writers, laws, administrative and public documents). Wikipedia as well as its foreign language ventures, Wikipedia in all languages, generously offers a huge variety of topics, illustrated with works from the shared media repository, Wikimedia Commons with 88,853,242 freely usable media files.
