He ordered an RTX 3090Ti, got a bowl of sand and went viral on TikTok (VIDEO)
The unfortunate adventure of a hardware enthusiast
Mauricio Takeda, a hardware enthusiast from Brazil, decided to upgrade his computer now that the prices are slowly falling, buying an RTX 3090 Ti from Amazon’s official website during the platform’s offer period, known as Prime Days .
However, his purchase ended up going viral and not for the best reason. In particular, when he received the package, he felt that it was unusually heavy, compared to other graphics cards he has unpacked in the past. This made him suspicious, so he asked his wife to start videotaping the whole process before opening the package, so he would have the video as evidence in case something had gone wrong.
Finally his suspicions were confirmed and upon opening the package of the PALIT GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GameRock that he supposedly bought for RBL 14,500 (€2,574), he saw a bowl full of sand! Takeda’s adventure did not end there, however, since Amazon refused to solve the problem and help him. So, after a lot of back-and-forth with customer support, he decided to take legal action, filing a lawsuit in the country’s special small claims court.
The matter then began to take on dimensions, since Takeda simultaneously posted the unboxing on TikTok, where it went viral. His publication has more than 640 thousand likes and 4.8 million views and immediately the domestic media started covering it.
After the pressure and the media, Takeda finally found his right and Amazon agreed to compensate him. Watch his video below.
